My name is Gustavo Guzman. I’m a psychiatrist by profession complementing my clinical work with painting, especially watercolour.
I sincerely believe that any true act of healing involves more than the mere attenuation or elimination of symptoms of a particular disease.
The spiritual dimension allows for a change that embraces the most profound understanding of our reality and everything that surrounds us. Furthermore, it allows us to live our lives in a more fulfilling way, whichever our circumstances may be.
The creative process of helping others to be true to themselves is what inspires me most about my work, and in a similar way to watercolour, it allows me to encourage the blossoming into surface of each person’s Self-Zen; just like water, paper and the pigments blend together to give birth to a painting. To help bringing out the essence of each person is a thing that I consider only art and the spiritual dimension (love) can provide.
Psychiatry along with watercolour allows me to reconcile my inner world with nature and with the essence of the Other. The more I paint and the harder I work, the more I discover the infinite and complementary that medicine is with watercolour.

Soy Gustavo Guzmán, médico psiquiatra que compatibilizo mi quehacer clínico con la pintura, especialmente la acuarela.
Creo profundamente que todo acto de sanación o curación verdadera conlleva algo más allá que la mera atenuación o erradicación de los síntomas de tal o cual enfermedad.
La dimensión espiritual nos permite un cambio que involucra una comprensión más cabal de nuestra realidad y de todo lo que nos rodea, y además no permite vivir más esencialmente nuestras vidas, cualesquiera hayan sido nuestras circunstancias.
El proceso creativo de ayudar a otros a ser verdaderos consigo mismos es lo que me apasiona de mi trabajo, y de manera análoga a la acuarela, me permite facilitar que el Ser-Zen de cada uno aflore a la superficie; así como el agua, los pigmentos y el papel se mezclan entre sí para dar luz a un cuadro. Ayudar a que aflore la esencia de cada cual, es algo que considero sólo el arte y la dimensión espiritual (el amor) nos conceden.
La psiquiatría con la acuarela me permiten reconciliar mi mundo interior con la naturaleza y el ser del Otro. Mientras más pinto y más trabajo, más descubro lo infinitos y complementarios que son para mi la medicina con la acuarela.
